David Bowie “I Can’t Read ’97” Friday, Jan 17 2020

The second installment of David Bowie’s Is It Any Wonder? EP of six unreleased and rare tracks has been released. Parlaphone Records has promised a track will be shared every week and while an earlier version of this song first appeared on Tin Machine‘s self-titled debut album, Bowie preferred this solo version he recorded for his Earthling LP– although it was later cut. For the first time, here’s “I Can’t Read ’97” with a rehearsal video shot by Tim Pope…

Real Estate ft. Amelia Meath “Paper Cup” Thursday, Jan 16 2020

Real Estate will release a new album next month! The Main Thing drops February 28th and the first single features Sylvan Esso‘s Amelia Meath on backing vocals. Despite Real Estate’s Martin Courtney referring to the tune as “feeling uncertain of the validity of being an artist in an age of climate change and general political and social unrest around the world,” the tune is an engaging, breezy one. The video? Well, you’re just going to have to see Chipper the Squirrel unravel for yourself… (LANGUAGE)

The Opening Act: Town Mountain Tuesday, Jan 14 2020

They’re not your typical bluegrass band. Nor do they want to be. Since forming in 2007, Town Mountain has been reshaping the strict genre, and quit worrying about appealing to only one certain audience. Their music is a mix of first and second generation of bluegrass spiced with country, and old school rock ‘n’ roll with a honky-tonk edge. Influences run the gamut from Jerry Garcia, to Willie, Waylon, Merle, and Springsteen. The group has earned raves for their hard-driving sound and rowdy, energetic live performances.

You can witness for yourself this Thursday (1/16) at Old Forrester’s Paristown Hall, opening for Greensky Bluegrass. WFPK is proud to present the show! Check out their song, Down Low, featuring their good friend Tyler Childers. It’s just a taste of what you’ll hear Thursday. This is Town Mountain, The Opening Act!
