'

The Bird and the Bees Inara George first recorded Sex in Cars for her The Youth of Angst EP released earlier this summer, but now George has re-recorded it with a high-profile friend for a good cause!

Foo Fighters Dave Grohl contributes to the tune as part of George’s ongoing “Road Angel Project”, a benefit that raises funds for Sweet Relief’s COVID-19 fund for struggling musicians and industry workers.

In a statement Grohl said, “Having been such a massive fan of Inara for years, it’s always such an incredible honor to work with her, whether on Foo Fighters music or for the Bird and the Bee. Her voice is timeless, so pure and real. So I jumped at the chance to duet with her on this song. It was a dream come true! And for a great cause: Musicians coming together to support each other in difficult times, working to keep the music alive.”

'

listen hear! spotlights a new track we love and think you will too.

One of the catchiest songs to come along this summer is from Arcade Fire’s Will Butler. Surrender is the lead single from his upcoming album, Generations, and you’ll be easily tempted to sing along.  It’s deceptively disguised as a love song, but its meaning goes much deeper. The companion video starts with light hearted, pre-pandemic studio footage and evolves into Will’s views on the Covid-19 situation, Black Lives Matters protest and police and prison reform.

listen hear! Gus Dapperton “Post Humorous” Sunday, Aug 2 2020

'

listen hear! spotlights a new track we love and think you will too.

New York-based artist, Gus Dapperton describes himself as a “producer first and foremost”, but is best known for creating clever, genre-bending songs. His latest single, Post Humorous, is a prime example; pairing deeply personal and reflective lyrics with an upbeat, catchy pop melody, using the creative songwriting process as a form of self-therapy.

He commented on that saying, I don’t always make music to heal my own wounds but when I’m able to do so and reflect on those feelings, it’s a really gratifying feeling. It’s really gratifying to lock those demons away in a sonic form and access them at will whenever.
